If there is any criminal history, please be prepared to discuss the relevant details, including what occurred, when, and where, as this may affect eligibility for immigration relief.
If you currently have an asylum application (Form I-589) pending with USCIS or the Immigration Court, we must receive a complete copy of what was actually filed at least 24 hours before your consultation. This includes:
A USCIS receipt notice by itself is not sufficient. I must review the application and evidence that were actually submitted in order to properly evaluate a pending asylum case. If we do not receive these documents at least 24 hours before the appointment, we cannot proceed with the consultation or consider accepting representation in the case.
Paid consultations (phone or Zoom): Cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice are nonrefundable. Consultations may be rescheduled once without penalty if you let us know within 24 hours of your appointment time.
No-shows: If you miss your appointment, you may reschedule once if you contact us within 24 hours. Otherwise, the consultation is nonrefundable, and a new one will need to be booked.
Consultations for detained individuals are conducted by phone or video only. If your loved one is currently detained by ICE, my office will first conduct a pre-screening call with you (or another trusted contact) to gather background information. I'll then speak directly with the detained person by phone or video through the detention facility before finalizing any legal strategy.
The family pre-screening is required. If it is missed, the detained consultation cannot be scheduled. Please have any available immigration documents (including prior applications) ready to share ahead of the call. If you're not able to access them, let us know during the call so we can proceed with what we have.
If available, please have the detained individual's A-Number ready at booking, so we can verify identity and location.
Please note: Detention facilities may take several days to confirm a consultation. We'll be diligent in scheduling and will keep you informed. Missed detainee pre-screening appointments without notice are nonrefundable, and they may be rescheduled once if a family member or contact reaches out to the office within 24 hours of the missed appointment.
